QA & Inspection

NaceOur NACE qualified Inspection team (Levels 1,2 and 3) will ensure specification compliance and these are just a few of the testing duties carried out daily.

Climatic Testing

The monitoring of climatic conditions such as temperature, relative humidity, dewpoint and moisture in industry is often vital to the success of the application of a coating. These parameters determine both the conditions for the application of the coating, and the resulting quality and performance of the coated product.

Dry Film Thickness

Dry Film Thickness is a critical measurement in the coating application process. It provides vital information as to the expected life of the substrate, the products fitness for purpose, its appearance and ensures compliance with a host of International Standards.

Wet Film Thickness

Place a comb perpendicular to and touching the substrate. Hold the comb in position and wait a few seconds until the teeth are wet. Remove the comb from the film. The wet film thickness lies between the biggest value coated or wet tooth and the smallest value uncoated dry tooth.

Adhesion Testing

An adhesion test is used to determine the strength of the bond between the substrate and the coating, or between different coating layers. From the largest man-made structures to the smallest household appliances, most manufactured products have a protective or cosmetic coating. Testing coating adhesion will not only help to detect potential coating failure but also define physical properties of a coating during formulation. Premature failure of the coating can, at the very least, result in additional costs of rework. That is why adhesion testing is essential to minimize a risk of poor adhesion.

Pinhole Detection

Premature corrosion of a substrate is usually due to a coating failure. A major cause is the presence of flaws in the finished coating.

The above tests are just a sample of the extensive test facilities Surface Engineers use on a frequent basis to ensure the protection of valuable assets in harsh environments.

If a test or piece of equipment is not listed please enquire further as it is unlikely we will not be able to cover it.
